Programme published for inaugural INEC @ IMDEX Asia 2013
The programme for the first ever INEC@IMDEX Asia, being held at the International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference (IMDEX) in Singapore between 14 – 16 May 2013, has been announced.
INEC@IMDEX Asia will get off to a flying start on 14 May 2013, bringing together navy leaders and industry players to discuss naval technology challenges and innovations in the region. The conference begins with workshops on Enabling Technology for Survival, Safety and Optimised Manning, and Optimising Technology for Affordable Capability before the main conference is held on 16 May.
With its theme ‘Transforming Naval Capabilities, Riding the Next Technology Wave’ INEC@IMDEX Asia 2013 combines plenary conference sessions and two afternoon parallel streams comprising 16 technical presentations, and is the first Asian edition of the International Naval Engineering Conference and Exhibition (INEC). It is organised by Experia Events in association with the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), supported by the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN).
INEC@IMDEX ASIA 2013 features two streams in which Naval Ship Design; Underwater Warfare/Unmanned Naval Technology; Naval Propulsion/Automation; and Surface Warfare Technology come under the conference spotlight through presentations by experts drawn from Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Singapore, Sweden, UK and USA. The full conference programme is available at /conferences-inec-at-imdex-2013.aspx.
“In planning INEC@IMDEX Asia 2013, our Technical Programme Advisory Committee has pinpointed topics that will deliver opportunities for discussion, collaboration and development of affordable, exciting and innovative solutions to meet the challenges of a fast changing maritime landscape,” explains David Loosley, Chief Executive of IMarEST.
Jimmy Lau, Managing Director, Experia Events added: “I am confident that the comprehensive programme for INEC@IMDEX Asia will be of immeasurable value to all our delegates at the show, as we shift towards new innovations in naval technology such as unmanned systems, multi-role solutions and greater use of automation.
“With every edition of IMDEX Asia, we aim to continuously improve our offering to deliver a better experience for our delegates. High-level conferences such as INEC@IMDEX Asia provide an invaluable platform for sharing of industry knowledge and the latest developments in naval technology.”
ME7 Keith Lim, co-chairman of the Technical Programme Advisory Committee, Republic of Singapore Navy added, “We are very pleased with the developments leading to INEC@IMDEX Asia. The natural confluence of naval partners, defence engineers and technologists here makes this event a rich offering for everyone. The exchange of global perspectives, operational experiences and technology developments will indeed sharpen the solution space for tomorrow’s Navy.”
