IMDEX Asia 2013 – charting new waters
SINGAPORE, 27 September 2012 – The International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (IMDEX Asia) will return for its ninth edition from 14 to 16 May 2013 at the Changi Exhibition Centre in Singapore. The biennial show, organised by Experia Events with the support of the Republic of Singapore Navy, is Asia Pacific’s largest dedicated international maritime defence show and a major event in the international naval and maritime defence calendar.
The ninth edition of IMDEX Asia will continue to deliver greater opportunities for key players in the international naval and maritime defence industry to interact and forge new partnerships. New features and highlights of IMDEX Asia 2013 include demonstrations of Rotary Wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. There will also be a special focus on Technology & Innovation ‘Deminars’, a unique blend of seminars and demonstrations.
According to market analysis firm AMI International, the world naval market is growing with new naval ship and related equipment expenditures set to reach US$750 billion over the next two decades on more than 800 ships. Southeast Asia in particular is set to spend more than US$25 billion on new naval ships through 2031, with patrol vessel, frigate and amphibious ships forming the core of future new naval projects in the region.
With Singapore’s strategic location at the heart of this flourishing region, IMDEX Asia is the platform of choice for naval and maritime defence companies looking to springboard into the Asia Pacific. As a testament to the importance of the event, 75% of exhibition space for IMDEX Asia 2013 has already been booked. IMDEX Asia 2013 will also welcome new exhibitors including Fincantieri, Luerssen, Scania and Schiebel, alongside top companies such as DCNS, Lockheed Martin and ST Engineering.
Mr Jimmy Lau, Managing Director of Experia Events, said: “The comprehensive coverage of top issues and continuing cutting-edge naval technology developments at IMDEX Asia makes it a must-attend event for stakeholders concerned with global maritime security and safety. Our exclusive IMDEX Asia VIP Delegation Programme, acclaimed for its success in connecting key players from government and industry, will return as a signature highlight of the show to facilitate even greater networking and business opportunities. With the high growth potential of the maritime industry in the Pacific region, we are optimistic that interest from exhibitors and visitors alike will remain strong for IMDEX Asia 2013 and are gearing up for another successful show.”
Held in conjunction with IMDEX Asia 2013 will be the International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC) and a naval technology conference. These conferences will gather Navy Chiefs, senior naval officers, Coast Guard Directors-General, engineers and academia to address strategic security and safety issues and present cutting-edge developments in naval technology. In addition, the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) will once again host the Maritime Information Sharing Exercise and the Western Pacific Multilateral Sea Exercise. These exercises will bring together navies and maritime agencies to share best practices and experiences, fostering international co-operation and understanding.
