Singapore Airshow & Events acquires IMDEX Asia
3 February 2010 – Singapore Airshow & Events Pte Ltd (SAe) today announced an expansion of its business by acquiring IMDEX ASIA, the premier International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference from the Singex Group.
SAe is the organiser of the biennial Singapore Airshow, Asia’s largest and one of the top three aerospace and defence exhibitions in the world.
IMDEX ASIA is a biennial event offering a one-stop opportunity for trade exhibitors and visitors to keep abreast of the latest maritime defence technologies and research developments. Supported by the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) the next event, the eighth in the series, will be held from 17 to 19 May 2011.
“IMDEX ASIA is a key event in the maritime defence industry’s global calendar and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) will work with Singapore Airshow and Events (SAe) to take the exhibition to a higher level of excellence and better serve the trade and industry players, navies and maritime enforcement agencies in the Asia-Pacific region,” said RADM Chew Men Leong, Singapore’s Chief of Navy.
IMDEX ASIA 2011 will be held at the Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC), a world class purpose built multi-dimensional facility with a 40,000 square metre covered exhibition space and a 100,000 square metre outdoor display area. One of the few venues with a seafront location offering a panoramic view of Singapore’s eastern seaboard, CEC’s wide open spaces as well as large exhibition hall will offer participants of IMDEX ASIA 2011 an integrated, holistic and brand new experience as they come together to exchange insights and view the latest in maritime naval defence technology.
Held in conjunction with IMDEX ASIA will be the 2nd International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC). The IMSC focuses on the maritime security environment, protection of sea lines of communication and coastal installations from potential threats by terror attacks and piracy. It would seek to promote global maritime security and safety by updating maritime practitioners on the latest cooperative efforts, policy and legal frameworks and technological developments in these arenas.
We are indeed very excited to be working with the Republic of Singapore Navy to organise IMDEX ASIA and IMSC. IMDEX ASIA will allow companies to penetrate the vast maritime defence market in the Asia Pacific region and beyond. SAe will continue to be a leading enabler in providing strategic industries the platform and gateway to network and conduct business in this region. Through IMDEX ASIA, we hope to further put Singapore on the map as a venue of choice in hosting key industry exhibitions that are of strategic global interest,” said Mr Jimmy Lau, Managing Director of Singapore Airshow & Events (SAe).
